A yard that looks great at noon can disappear at 7 p.m. These steps help you plan a display that reads after dark.
1. Start with one glowing focal piece
Pick a lighted inflatable large enough to see from the street and put it where headlights and sidewalks face it.
2. Add a path of light
Light arches, stake lights or hanging ghosts pull visitors from the sidewalk to the door and make the display feel planned.
3. Put unlit pieces near existing light
Unlit inflatables look flat at night. Place them near a porch light, garage light or a small spotlight.
4. Plan power before you order
- Count outdoor outlets and their distance from each piece.
- Use outdoor-rated cords and keep connections off wet ground.
- Put everything on timers so the display turns on at dusk and off at bedtime.
5. Check the weather
Deflate inflatables before strong wind or storms, and check stakes after heavy rain.
